I didn’t like the story "Raymond´s run" because the characters are unbelievable, especially squeaky, the main character. Also this story has an incomplete plot, it doesn´t have a falling action and a complete resolution. The story stays in the climax and from one moment to another it change completely, it doesn’t make sense. I also didn’t like it because it don’t leave a lesson you can learn from. The story become boring because no action happens and the cruelness of the characters does not help.
The characters in this story are unrealistic, a really good example is Squeaky. Squeaky is the kind of person that think that they are perfect with no defects. She thinks that she is the best, the fastest runner and really self-confident but in the negative way. She is rude and mean with others girls, an example is when she meets with Gretchen and the other girls, and they start to insult each other. Through all the story squeaky has the ego in the clouds and from one moment to another she changes her way of thinking. After watching Raymond run, she thought that he had potential, he actually was really good. Also she accepted that Gretchen was a really good runner. For this reason I think that the characters are unrealistic because it is impossible to change your way of seeing things from one moment to another.
Another thing that I didn’t like about the story was that it had an incomplete plot because it doesn’t have a falling action and a finished resolution. The story changes unexpectedly, from one moment to another, it don’t have a complete process. All the story, Squeaky and Gretchen were really self-confident, they had a really high ego, they thought that they were perfect and that nobody else had the potential they had. In a second they changed of thoughts, they started to see and to accept that other people had also potential and talent. For this reason the story don’t have a complete process. You don’t think and believe that the story is real.
I honestly didn’t like this short story because it was unrealistic. From all the reasons I have told you, you can tell that the story doesn’t had like a lesson or theme to learn from. You can see in the real world people like squeaky all self-confident but towards a negative way. I hope you understand my point of view and reasons.
